History of British
Heirloom Bean Breeding

2BHealthyGB was launched in 2011 at the University of Warwick's Crop Centre near Wellesborne (previously the National Vegetable Research Station).  However, its history dates back to the 1970-80s when public investment from the UK Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries (now DEFRA) supported agronomy research and breeding of conventional white navy bean varieties for UK farmers.

Here's a sample of the historical record. . .

Public research also supported private breeding of 'Stop' (a red navy bean)
